My heart broken...

Hello everyone. It's a happy new year but my heart is going to burst because saori said that she'll finish her music activity.
I feel empty though I also think that she isn't young as Idol but young as a person, so it's a good timing for her to start her life again.
Her attendance remain unchanged so I believe if she were to continue music activity, she couldn't increase her fan base.

As you likely know, it's a one of my motivations that support her activity, so I think it's time to close my blog.
I thought of continuing it with introducing you ohter subculture news, but I don't wanna waste my life with updating article which I can't blame if someone steal. I must rebuild my life too.
Maybe I'll update one more time to introduce you her last performance but I don't know. Please let me be by myself now...

It's a New Year's Eve

Hello oversea nerds! It s a New Year's Eve night in Japan and needless to say this year is a hard one for Japanese.
I believe Earthquake is a natural disatser but radioactive pollution is a human disaster.
The earthquake contribute greatly to strengthen our bonds and speed of the recovery of quake-hit area is so fast, but I feel hopeless that Government, academy, and news media work not for people but for rights of nuclear power stations, and as a result they put our life in danger.
So This year I'm proud I'm Japanese but also I'm ashamed I'm Japanese... Maybe It's a matter of common occurrence in democratic countries and I shouldn't get so serious.

Whatever the case, everyone think about what can they do for Japan and Yoshihiro Togashi is one of them. He mentioned in a postscript of Shounen Jump that he wanna draw a comic as long as possible for disaster victims and he still serialize "Hunter x Hunter" without interval. So 2 Channellers can't use their annual joke "If Togashi work, I'll work too." anymore. LOL.
To be honest I think "chimeraant series" is more boring than "Greed Island series" or "Genei Ryodan series". but last scene is so beautiful and I'm excited Yoshihiro Togashi describe such a pathos at Shounen Jump, which primary schooler read too.

I think of music, My favorite are Bremen"Skin", LIL "Syncronize", Sakanaction "Documentaly", Aira mitsuki x Saori@destiny "X park of safari".
Especially LIL's female vocalist Ucio is a very gifted girl, She always write lyrics in English and really sing at performance(You may think it's a natural but so many Electronica vocalist do lip-sync). I'm not native English speaker but I think her English pronunciation is good so she has a chance at oversea. I've introduce you before cardigan's cover song , so I introduce you other song.

And it's not released this year but I'm impressed De De Mouse "Journey to Freedom". Title song reminds me of SquarePusher's classic Drum'n bass tune "Journey to reedham", but his sampling of folk music is very funny so I say it "Enigma meets Squarepusher"! He is a talented man whom I wanna introduce to the world too.

Finally I wanna introduce you Animal video, which is already popular at NicoNico Douga, because I hope your coming year will be full of laughter. It titled "a Dog has difference of motivation whether food are there or not"

As I've introduce you several times, Some people can get magazines earlier than sale date and upload the picture of it. Off course there's a possibility it's a "Usobare"(which means "Fake leak". you may have looked the picture that hunter x hunter's character Gotoh is still alive!).
But anyway this picture reprint the Jump Square said that famous comic Rurouni Kenshin will restart in the June issue of the magazine.

Aira Mitsuki×Saori@destiny Oneman Live in Glad

When I heard that Saroi release the album with Aira Mitsuki, who has more strong fan base than saori, I thought maybe it'll be a chance for her to do performance in front of big audience.
But rank of the album at first week is 206th place, with about 600 copies sold. And the venue of the release party is Shibuya Glad, at which Saori always do solo live...
I think there is more than one reason why Aira lost her sales. (It's just a personal analysis and I have no intent to blame Aira and her staff. Needless to say, the biggest reason are Japan's recession and overflow of pirate file.)

1)When she released 3rd album "6 force", she adopt band sound but songs which produced by Japanese electronica band Sawagi were so boring... It's a good way of business that at first musician imitate style of selling band then make their originality while they are watched. so Aira lost a biggest opportunity for erasing the image that she's just a copy of Perfume, Japanese most popular techno idol.

2)In her 4th album "???", she coverd famous song Kenji Ozawa's "Aishi Aisare Ikirunosa" and it made an enemy of some music fans. If Britney Spears sing R&B version of "Yesterday", some of you may think it's a stupid gimmick and disrespect for Beatles, How about you?
Additionally, one song was written by K-POP staff. For a fact some Japanese like K-POP but most nerds dislike it because Korea is a one of the most anti-Japanese countries so they might think she's just a fashion monger.

3)Her live performances are all the same, with 4 back dancers and CD sounds. Personally speaking I like her dancers who always smile with hard dancing, but even Aira mania doesn't think they must go every lives. The biggest change in recent years is that She got a bit out of shape...

But I think of 3rd reason, Members of today are irregular, 2 singers, Saori's 2 back keyboardists and Aira's 2 back dancers take turns on stage.
For example, wheh Aira sing her song(e.c. "Yellow Supercar" or "Summer set"), Aira and 2 dancers and 2 keyboardists are on the stage.
And when Saori sing her song(e.c. "Funny Parade" or "Wowwow techno"), Saori and 2 keyboardist are there (as an exception Aira and Saori sing "I can't" and "Grotesque" together).
And offcourse when they play songs from their new album, all the members are on the stage. It's a shame that I can' tell you in words how pretty choreographies of "Discovery", "Panama", "Wowtown" are! One thing can be said, when Saori and Aira say "Pow!" they raise the index finger like a Michael Jackson!

It's a fantastic night and 2 hours passed very rapidly. But it's like a one night festival only for D-topia fans and after the festival is finished, we must live our daily life.
This year 2 japanese techno bands with female vocalist, Sweet vacation and Jaccapop announced thier cessation of activity.
Music market is going down rapidly so I don't know how long Aira and Saori can do music activity.
Sales copy of the Album is "Idol one rap behind" but in reality quality of thier songs and performances are not far behind from Carry PamyuPamyu.
Even so I think If they wanna do it, they must change something right now, without relying on purchase power of nerds, but having will to get a new customers.
Offcourse if anyone understand what something means, it isn't difficult. Only few people can be successful at showbusiness world so I know I shouldn't be sentimental but I have indescribable feelings of stagnation...

Long time no see nerds! I still can't rebuild my life but I have fun in it because new series of "Hunter x Hunter" is very exciting so I can't wait every monday.
I enjoy watching popular characters who haven't appear in the comic around 10 years. And new character Aruka is already famous among otakus who like "moe" So I guarantee there'll be so many hentai doujinshis featuring Aruka at next comic market. Hahaha.

Also, restart of "Shigurui" is uncertain for forementioned reason but I hear that other comic artist start cartoonizing same original novel. It's not popular so I believe It's hard to get at oversea but if you have interest please search hideki mori's "Kaina Surugajyou gozen jiai".

I like new album "X park of the safari" but I can't laugh the self-deprecating sales copy "Idol syuukai okure"(Idols who are one lap behind) because Aira gradually lost her popularity and Saori can attract only minimal regular fans, In contrast Carry pamyupamyu, who debuted after Aira and Saori, start overseas operations.
It's a kind of sad but I have a thread of hope if Japanese girly electro scene come under the spotlight, Someone may have interest in them too...

It's uncertain if I restart this blog but after I stopped updating, there were many funny news that I wanna tell you.
so even if I can update it monthly, maybe I'll restart it in near future just for fun. so just expect it when I do.

I've updated this blog for a year and 4 month but I decide to stop it and take a rest for a while.
I'm not young and have walked on long and winding load, but I'm still in the darkness. There's no future and I fell empty when I look back at my life.
If I were perfect nerd, I may be satisfied with living in a fiction world. But I wanna create my own life if possible.
I still have intention to learn English and introduce you Japanese news so I'll keep this account. But it's not my top priority now. I recognize how little time is left for me.
I know no one commented at my blog but other famous site was full of comments even if we reported same news, so I think there's no place to stay in here.

That's the reason why I stop updating my site. I lost my hope but I wanna look for the reason why I was born till I die.
In other words, if I restart this blog It's a evidence that I restore positive feeling and have the capacity in my life. So with luck I'll see you again.
Now Japan is a polluted land, like a Toxic jungle in "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind". I look at future of Japan with a pessimistic eye, but I also believe if you keep your love to Japanese subculture, It'll rebirth again someday.

"Domestic Domain" release party at Shibuya Glad

It's purely a matter of personal taste and I don't wanna upset saori fans, but I'm disappointed "Domestic domain". It's a low-keyed album for me and on a scale of 1 to 10, her former albums are 10 and new one is 6.
But I also believe a miracle that impression of the songs will be extremly changed at live performance. I got a reason to trust it because I've seen the miracle once before. It's a release party of "World Wild 2010".

Saori debuted as Akihabara-style Idol but never gain popularity, so her office decided that she perform with 2 keyboardist.
I guess it was a bet for them because idol fans never wanna see men with idol even if he is a manager or back-up band.
Some of fans go away and others come in. But what I saw at release party is that Both idol fans and dance music fans got together and dance with performance of them. I think it's a moment they won a bet.
After that, She always attract about 50 to 100 crowds, but I don't know fever heat of the live house get around to people outside saori-fans. I didn't go every live but I learned most faces of regular attendants.
And I think It's hard for her to get a new customer because promotion of new album is very poor and the sound is a bit low-keyed.

So I go to today's live with mixed feelings. To tell the conclusion first, thier performance is still good so they entertain existing saori-fans at least.
Actually saori@destiny is 3-piece band now and their live performance is in their prime. I have no interest in Hiphop or Soul music, but when they play together there's always their original performance. I like her dances of new songs.
And I think that today they set best attendance record they have done at Shibuya Glad. Usually many participators show up at release party So I must discount it, even so I believe Shibuya Glad is too cramped for them.

In encore She said that next live is also at same venue and she wanna jam-pack the event then go to next stage. But she also said that if "Domestic domain" doesn't make a sale, there is no guarantee she can release next album.
Off course she's a negative girl and sometime say a bearish thing so we don't need to take it seriously, but I guess they struggle with sales of the album and want her fans to buy multiple CDs.
Anyway I confirm there's video camera so I hope you'll fell the fever heat anytime soon.

Suna no Eikan: black-hearted boy goes to tournament!

Honestly speaking, I had a prejudice against Norihusa Mita. He is already known for hit manga "Dragon Zakura", but his paint skill is so horrible, I think it's doubtful that he even practice drawing.
But I changed my mind when I read "Suna no Eikan", I think exciting story outweigh his lack of paint skill. Setting of the comic is eccentric so I'm looking forward to rest of the story every weeks.

This story begins when a captain of the baseball club receive 10 million yen from a old man for entering Koshien.
Koshien is a amateur baseball tournament for high-school student. Off course we already know that even if it's a nonprofit sport it take a big bite.
Captain bury the money and promise him that he use it for cheering group after they win the elimination, but resultingly he realise the truth about Koshien and decide to use it in spots.

I think this is a story of his two faces.
One is that he has to pretend good young man because he must get audience and referee on his side for win. On the other hand, he always has a cool mind to use big cash and play the game.
And other one is that He must do superficial communication with vain and brain-dead manager. On the other hand, He try to have control over team and get it moving in the right direction against manager's wish.

In most baseball comic, lead character win the game with his effort or talent, but in this comic it's a tactician so I think this setting make the comic very unique one.

Rurouni Kenshin Live action movie officially announced

Japanese news site Gigazine reported that famous comic "Rurouni Kenshin" will be live action movie at 2012. the report said that Director is Keishi Ohtomo, former state channel staff, and Ken Sato is leading actor.
And author Nobuhiro Watsuki said that Ken sato is a best person to act Kenshin so he is looking foward to watch his performance.

This picture is a saori@destiny's street performance after 3 years.
Off course now Akihabara street prohibit this kind of event so it's a guerrilla-like performance. She informed it at twitter only, and lip-syncs "Gamba Japan" with veeeeery little sound and leave in a hurry.
I know a staff pass out flyers of event at Shosen Booktower, but I think reactions of people are "Who's that girl?" only because it's a very short time and little sound.
Unfortunately "Domestic Domain" is a unpromoted Album. There's no promotion video, no magazine interview, and no purchase campaign. Her only hope is word-of-mouth and I guess their staff decided to do it for that reason even in such a trapped situation.
I know some of you come to my blog looking for shared files with keyword "Mediafire" or "rar". I don't have a right to blame you, but please keep in mind her sales have been flat, always around 1000 copies. If you like her music I hope you'll support her in your way.

Today is a advance sale day of saori's new album so I go to Akihabara.
There are few audience and I get front row, so I take a picture of their instruments for techno music fans.
As I said before, her true value is live performance and two keyboradists take a important role.

This is tommy's keyboard, Korg Karma, Korg R3 (He use it as vocoder so when he play shangri-la he shout at the mic), and Kaoss pad.

This is mizucchi's keyboard, Roland SH-200 and laptop PC (I guess he mute some tracks of CD sound and play it with keyboard sound but I don't know).

And this two-shot pic is a purchase bonus for the people who buy 2 CDs. (Wearing Jigoku no Misawa T-shirt is a proof that this old man is me!)

Yesterday was a birthday event of saori. She keep her age private but she said one of the keyboardists mizucchi, who is same birthday with saori and will be 22 this year, is younger than her, so I guess she is late 20s or something.
She said she is rembering choreography now so they played new song "Gamba Japan" only. Sound equipment of the club was horrible so I couldn't get into their performance than when they play Shibuya Glad but this song is good. Maybe Electro Samba is a new genre of music?

This is a 4th solo live that saori perform at Shibuya Glad but for the first time it was named title of her next album. So I believed theme of the live is new songs from the album, but they didn't perform new song instead play cd sound of one new song at encore.
There's no trial listening site as of now so audience of the night are first listener of the song. The song titled "Domestic Domain" is a electro pop featuring guitar sound. I think it's not bad but ordinary one. Melody line is so good but I've heard this kind of music sooooo many times after Perfume became popular in Japan.....
Saori said she is writing lyrics for the album thinking about Big earthquake at Tohoku area, so I guess it's a message song. I wanna hold my judgement till I get her new album and read lyrics she wrote. Maybe I'll feel different impression when I hear the song as one of new songs.
So I was a bit disappointed tonight but anyway fever heat of the audience is best I've ever seen. I didn't expect I see mosh of the audience at techno live!

Young Gangan announced that popular comic "Arakawa under the bridge" will be made into live action television drama at summer of 2011 and movie at 2012. Whether the movie will be animation or live action is still unknown.

Taking a look back over the past year part 2

Long serialization "Shigurui" has reached the final episode. Last scene of the comic is cruel but beautiful.
And you may wanna know if there's a continuation of comic or animation. I believe continuation of comic is possible. because author purposely wrote it's a end of "Mumyou Sakanagare series", so it is natural to think there'll be another series. But as I said before, now author serialize another comic "Exoskull zero" so it's still a long way off.
And I guess there's no second series of animation, because the comic no longer as popular as they once were. I think peak of the pupularity is when volume 6 was published, so in my opinion the animation ended at most exciting scene.
Kogan Iwamoto is one of the most eccentric character in comic world, and after he died the story become a bit lengthy. Even so It's my best comic ever!

Jigoku no misawa is already popular in Japan. His comic "Kakko kawaii Sengen" has become cartoon film. And his blog still has power of influence to make trendy words.
I think good comedy contains criticism and He always caricature "Cyunibyo"(I metaphrase it "8th grade disease". It means person who is self-conscious like a kid.) and I like his style of comedy. My only concern is that his talent may be consumed as a fad because Japanese are people who get tired easily.
I got no reaction of my entries so I don't know if you like it, But I think sense of humor vary widely between cultures. To my knowledge, Japanese representative gag comic aren't praised outside Japan(EG "Sugoiyo! Masarusan", "Inatyu Takkyubu" or "Gagmanga Biyori").

I hope 2011 will be a year of progress for Saori@destiny. But she has hardly change set list since her latest release.
Their performance and her talent to write lyrics are so great and there is no question about it.
Even so I think if they are real live band, they create new songs constantly and brush up the arange through performances.
Actually, her creativity is highly owned to producer Terukado so If he were busy by other artist, She can't do any action alone.
Her label D-topia is way less than big office so it's reasonable that Terukado wrote songs for more profitable artist, so I believe a past year is a time to seed with thier performance.
Situation surrounding music industry become harder and harder in Japan. I don't know how long she can continue music activity, but I believe her talent and I'd like to repay her for all the exciting feelings she've given me.
There's few video which can tell you fever heat of her live, so I want introduce you this again. It's a only video we can watch her singing killer tune "I can't".

And if you have interst in Japanese girly electro scene and want to listen some more, I also recommend BREMEN, LIL, and Recoride.

BREMEN's latest Album "Skin" is my best album in 2011 as of now(off course best of 2010 is "World Wild 2010"!). If you like danceable techno band like Underworld, I believe you'll like it.

Do you know electro cover of "Carnival", original song is 90's smash hit by Cardigans? I guranntee If you play this song at club, you'll be heard "Hey, what's that? Where did you get it?"

Recoride's live performance is also great, espesially tatta is charismatic vocalist who make me fell punk spirit. But their live video at Youtube are horrible so I introduce you this PV.

I've started this blog at March 2010 so it's a nearly first birthday. But first of all I wanna say thank-you to all the people who loves Japan via subculture and pray for safety of disaster victims.
And also Thank you for watching my blog. To be honest access is still poor so I don't have belief that you've enjoyed it.
I guess most of viewers are who know Japanese news at other site and looking for more information via search engine. So they must be disappointed my article even if I reported it first.
I believe life is short and I should do what other people doesn't. So if you run Japanese subculture site which looking for Link exchange, please contact me! I don't wanna waste my time by translating previously reported news.

And 15% of viewers are in Japan but I guess they are also disappointed because few people comment at my blog. As I said before, there are so many "Foreign reaction blog" in Japan. Personally speaking I think they are disgusting because...
1)They never have intention to interact with you. They watch and translate your comment at Youtube or animation forum without a word.
2)They choose comments to translate for money. It's a Japanese behavior that we have insularism and satisfy our pride by receiving praise from other countries, so they often choose the comment that praise Japanese subculture.
3)They always make money with excusing their translation skill. Modesty may be virtue of Japanese but imagine that kitchen chef excuse you "I'm sorry I couldn't cook well because I don't feel well"!
Off course It's a personal opinion so if you don't care about being watched by money monger I have nothing to say.

She said that she was disaster victim of Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995 and feel uneasy for victims of Tohoku area at her twitter.
The earthquake induce a mood of self-control among Japanese and many entertainment event were criticized because of the electricity shortage caused by nuclear accident.
Off course there's no right answer so each one have to make their own answer. She says to the audience "All I can do is to perform and send energy to Tohoku area.""I felt sad because Tv is full of bad news but I'm relieved with seeing your smile."
In an encore she sing "My boy", and with excusing she doesn't prepare songs and play second "I can't","EZ do dance" of the night. I believe it's her improvisation.
The fever heat of the audience when she sing "I can't" is too great for words. All I can say is that you must see her live.
Transportation condition in japan is still no good but the venue is almost full house and she announced next solo live at same venue. I'm glad she can regularly attract around 100 crowds and do performance.

Syuukan Manga Goraku announced that they stop publishing "Hakuryu Legend", which serialize "Atomic Mafia series" now.
In the comic Yakuza follow up Touto Electric Power Company, which name is spoof of Tokyo Electric Power Company.
The Yakuza said that plumbing technology of nuclear plant is lag 15 years behind chemical plant and the pipework is a sloppy job because it's contracted out to unqualified person.
He also said nuclear accident might happen like a Chernobyl and the company has more guilty secret, but we can't read continuation. This magazine is published at same day of Tohoku Big earthquake so I guess publisher think it's a bad timing.

J-comi 2nd beta test update

J-comi official blog announced that absolute profit of 18 volume comic "Traffic accident surveyor Rinichiro Tamaki" is 1065000yen(about 13000 US dollar).
The money is distributed to original writer and painter in accordance with the rate which they decided up front.
And the blog said that they will make white list of the comics which net users can upload at J-comi by official open scheduled for end of March.

I know most of Manga fans outside Japan read scanlation with the knowledge that author get nothing from it. But I wanna believe that persons, who make scanlation and upload it, have no intention of breaking a law but just want to promote what they think is interesting.
